UNMC enrolls largest number in adolescent depression study
UNMC was one of 13 clinical sites to participate in a study that found the most favorable way of treating teens suffering from major depressive disorder is via a combination of antidepressant and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Findings in the study, coordinated by Duke University Medical Center, indicate that such a combination appears the best approach to alleviating depression and reducing the level of suicidal thinking in adolescents.

Nebraska leads 10-state alliance for public health emergencies

Building community support for breastfeeding
The Heartland Alliance for Breastfeeding Advocacy has launched a “Breastfeeding Welcome Here” Business Initiative. The campaign enlists local Omaha and surrounding area businesses to welcome breastfeeding mothers and babies, and indicate this by displaying a “Breastfeeding Welcome Here” decal.
