The McGoogan Library of Medicine is promoting four new resources that will benefit UNMC faculty, staff and students. The resources — ScienceDirect Backfiles, Exam Master, FIRSTConsult and images.MD – respectively provide online access to past journal articles, online tests capabilities, clinical diagnosis information and downloadable medical images.

Continuing education part of licensure renewal

As of Oct. 1, all licensed physicians must “attest” to having completed 50 hours of continuing medical education in order to renew their license. LB 1021, passed in 2002, requires all licensed physicians, osteopathic physicians and surgeons to complete 50 hours of Category 1 continuing medical education in a two-year period.

Michael Dalton, Ph.D., an assistant professor in the UNMC Department of Genetics, Cell Biology and Anatomy died Wednesday, Sept. 1, following a long illness. He was 45.

Emeritus professor, O. Max Jardon, dies

O. Max Jardon, M.D., a longtime friend and colorful colleague of the UNMC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation, died Aug. 23 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was 72. Dr. Jardon graduated from the department’s residency program in 1972 and was the second resident to complete the modern program.
