Self-motivated learner finds accelerated program challenging

In her own words, nursing student Elizabeth Harris describes what it is like to be enrolled in the new accelerated bachelor of science in nursing program at the UNMC College of Nursing. The 12-month program condenses into one year what the traditional nursing students learn over two-and-a-half years. Harris is one of 20 students expected to finish the program and graduate with a BSN in December.

Rejda receives Chancellor’s Gold U Award

John Rejda isn’t comfortable in the spotlight. He’d much rather quietly work behind-the-scenes to resolve computer problems for those in need. That’s why being named the July recipient of the Chancellor’s Gold ‘U’ Award is humbling, says the Omaha native, who has worked at UNMC since September 2001.

Jazz concert on campus July 29

Jazz vocalist Susie Thorne will perform Friday, July 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Swanson Courtyard for employees of UNMC, The Nebraska Medical Center and UMA. The concert is presented through Passport Partners, a cultural partnership between UNMC, UMA, The Nebraska Medical Center and Joslyn Art Museum.

Med center hopes to regain corporate cycling title Aug. 21

Medical center employees are hoping to pedal 3,500 miles in this year’s Corporate Cycling Challenge, but need your help to meet that goal and beat the competition. The Corporate Cycling Challenge – Nebraska’s largest single day cycling event – is set for Sunday, Aug. 21. The event is a bicycle tour and not a race, so cyclists of all abilities can participate.
