Patients with chronic, debilitating pain from whiplash and other trauma are turning to UNMC and a unique surgical treatment program that enables them to recapture their lives. Unlike traditional surgery, however, these patients are awake on the operating table and the success of the operation depends upon their ability to feel pain during surgery.

Heather Titman, M.D., explores how to improve end-of-life clinical care of patients with the neurological disease. Both have received Alzheimer’s research awards established by the late Col.
