The poison center talks ethanol in hand sanitizers

The Nebraska Regional Poison Center has received an increase in calls concerning hand sanitizers and the dangers associated with them. This month an e-mail has been circulating to mothers, teachers and health care providers about a child who ingested a lick of a hand sanitizer after it was applied to the hands and then became intoxicated from the ethanol in the product.

42nd and Farnam streets to experience Saturday closings

From 7 a.m. to about 3 p.m. on Saturday, 42nd Street between Dodge and Emile streets will be closed while 42nd Street is resurfaced and concrete is poured for the walkway. Also during this time, Farnam Street between 40th and 44th streets will be closed.

UNMC PA grad receives high national honor

Army Capt. Patrick Williams is the recipient of the 2007 U.S. Army Surgeon General’s Annual Physician Assistant Recognition Award, which is given to a physician assistant who has made a significant contribution to military medicine.
Williams is a certified physician’s assistant with a degree from UNMC.
