This year’s Tuskegee Airmen International Convention in Omaha featured the first formal tribute to black women in uniform ever held at a Tuskegee Airmen national convention. More recently, Valda Boyd Ford, director of UNMC Community and Multicultural Affairs, reprised her presentation on campus.

2004 Garden Walk raises $36,300 for MMI programs

On June 12 – the day before the Munroe-Meyer Guild 2004 Garden Walk — Omaha nearly set a record for a single day’s rainfall. But the sun shone June 13 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and hundreds of guests moved through the seven-featured gardens, raising $36,300 for the MMI programs. Then, just as the walk ended, the clouds rolled in and by 5:05 p.m. it had begun to rain.

Ice cream social Aug. 10 to benefit school children

On Tuesday, Aug. 10, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Clarkson Cafe, you can get a hot fudge sundae with all the trimmings for $1 or a school supply donation. The supplies will go to the annual Back-2-School distribution sponsored by the Sisters Together Omaha organization.
