Health center serves needs of older adults
Kathryn Dwinell has lived a pretty healthy 100 years. And she knows a good thing when she sees one. Dwinell, who lives in a retirement home in Lincoln, regularly visits the Senior Health Promotion Center, a nurse-managed center operated by the UNMC College of Nursing.

UNMC post-doctoral fellow is Fight for Sight grant recipient
Lucia Cadetti, a post-doctoral fellow at UNMC, is one of 10 Fight for Sight 2005-06 Postdoctoral Fellowships recipients. Outstanding independent researchers were selected nationally. Fellows receive a $20,000 grant each year.

Nurse earns doctoral degree at 53
Mary Filipi, Ph.D., has worked in almost every area of nursing – medical surgical, recovery room, emergency room and coronary care. She’s worked in labor and delivery and family practice and as a school nurse. But, today, the 53-year-old self-proclaimed “late bloomer” is graduating with a doctoral degree in neuroscience.

College of Nursing Lincoln Division celebrates relocation
When students at the UNMC College of Nursing Lincoln Division e-mailed UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., about an inadequate learning environment, he listened. This fall, students, faculty and staff celebrated the division’s move into the Commerce Court building in downtown Lincoln.
