Spreading the word to rural Nebraska

Pierre Fayad, M.D., is on a mission to make people more aware of the dangers associated with stroke, the No. 3 killer behind heart disease and cancer. Dr. Fayad, the Reynolds Centennial Professor and chairman of the UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences, took his message on the road last week heading to western Nebraska to make presentations in Scottsbluff, North Platte and McCook.

UNMC neurosurgeon among first trained on FDA-approved cervical artificial disk replacement

Peter Lennarson, M.D., a neurosurgeon for UNMC and its hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center, is the first physician in the area to have completed training on implanting an artificial disc for people with degenerative disc disease in the cervical spine.
