McGoogan Library honored for consumer health resource
The U.S. National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS) has announced that UNMC’s McGoogan Library of Medicine has been selected to receive the 2004 NCLIS Blue Ribbon Consumer Health Information Recognition Award for Libraries for Nebraska. This prestigious award will be presented today at 3:30 p.m., during a reception at the McGoogan Library of Medicine.

CNND celebrates anniversary, merger with pharmacology
Spirits were high on Aug. 18, as UNMC’s Center for Neurovirology and Neurodegenerative Disorders (CNND) held its bi-annual state of the center dinner at the Omaha Press Club. The dinner marked the seventh anniversary of the CNND and – for the first time – brought together members of the CNND and UNMC’s Department of Pharmacology.

Nebraska delegation bound for biotechnology convention
This weekend, a group of nearly 20 Nebraskans will travel to the BIO 2004 Annual International Convention, the world’s largest biotechnology event. The convention takes place June 6-9 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center with more than 16,000 biotech executives, investors, journalists, policymakers and scientists from more than 55 countries expected to attend.

UNMC leadership team makes historic trek across Nebraska
It was a historic trip – two days, four speaking stops, 32 media interviews and more than 1,000 miles. In what is believed to be the largest group of University of Nebraska leaders to ever go out as a group across the state, 10 UNMC administrators piled into two vans on April 28 and 29 and went from Omaha to Scottsbluff and back on a landmark goodwill tour.
