Culture series lecture to focus on Hispanic heritage

College of Public Health building named for the Maurers
Education and the support of health professionals, students and researchers are among the deepest passions of UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., and his wife, Beverly. The Maurers were honored for these attributes at a formal groundbreaking ceremony for UNMC’s College of Public Health on Thursday when University of Nebraska President James B. Milliken announced that the new building will be named for the couple.

The campus is invited to a formal groundbreaking ceremony today for the College of Public Health building. The ceremony will be held today at 10:30 a.m. on 40th Street between Emile and Dewey streets. Cupcakes and fruit will be available for those who attend.

Rural, minority women need more breast, cervical cancer screenings
Health disparities for Nebraska’s rural and minority women still persist, according to a 10-year study of the state’s Every Woman Matters program. The study’s results are published in the August edition of the Journal of Health Care for the Poor and Underserved.
