Students gain sports medicine skills under Dr. Brown
For the past seven years, fourth-year residents in UNMC’s department of orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation have worked under the supervision of David Brown, M.D., in the area of sports medicine. Dr. Brown receives the Volunteer Faculty of the Month Award.

Over the past 16 years, Steven M. Denenberg, M.D., has contributed to the UNMC College of Medicine by teaching residents the details of facial plastic surgery and instructing them in patient-friendly office techniques. Dr. Denenberg is a Volunteer Faculty of the Month award recipient.

Distance education enables nursing student to help underserved
Going to college while working a full-time job is challenge enough, says Nancy Fahrenwald. But, living in South Dakota didn’t give the UNMC College of Nursing doctoral student many choices for doctoral nursing programs.

UNMC students study tropical medicine in Belize
On Aug. 6, Keith Brown, M.D., and 11 UNMC students in his Wilderness and Tropical Medicine course departed for Belize for two-weeks of hands-on medical experience. Dr. Brown is a family practice physician in Gordon, Neb., and an adjunct assistant professor at UNMC.
