Rain can’t dampen mood at Cattlemen’s Ball

Normally, rain in early June is a welcome thing in Nebraska. But when Mother Nature delivered more than three inches of rain to the Grand Island area in the wee hours of the morning on June 6, organizers of the 11th annual Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska weren’t smiling.

Cattlemen’s Ball to feature giant boot sculptures

Those in the market for an interesting piece of art may want to check out the Cattlemen’s Ball being held this weekend in Lodgepole in western Nebraska. Seven fiberglass cowboy boots, each six foot tall original works of art, will be auctioned off to support cancer research at the Eppley Cancer Center.
