UNMC, Burger King partner to beat cancer

Burger King again has teamed with the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center to support childhood cancer research at UNMC. The “BK Beat Cancer for Kids” promotion is running through July at 68 Burger King locations in Nebraska and Council Bluffs. The program is an extension of Liz’s Legacy, a fund to advance cancer research and care through the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center.

Nursing class pays tribute to former teacher

The UNMC College of Nursing class of 1965 decided to celebrate its 40th reunion by paying tribute to a cherished teacher and continuing a lifelong commitment to helping others. The class, in cooperation with the University of Nebraska Foundation, established the Esther Sock Dworak Memorial Fund as a tribute to the late Esther Sock Dworak, a pediatrics instructor and class sponsor. The fund will benefit the needs of children at the Family Health Care Center in south Omaha.

Nebraska participate in health/science meet

Seventy-three eighth-grade students from 31 schools across Nebraska attended UNMC’s 13th annual Health/Science Meet June 9-11, for an educational and fun experience. The meet’s goal is to inspire students, especially those from rural communities, to pursue careers in health care.
