Dr. Roche retiring from administrative role

When Edward “Ted” Roche, Ph.D., interviewed for a faculty position in the College of Pharmacy in 1966, he thought it would be a nice place to be for the next three to five years.

This academic year will be the last for Dr. Roche in administration. After 23 years as an academic administrator, Dr. Roche will return full time to the pharmaceutical sciences faculty.

Rubens J. Pamies, M.D., is professor of medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and chairman of the department of internal medicine at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn.

Husband of former nursing dean dies; services set for Saturday

J. Thomas Yeaworth, husband of former UNMC College of Nursing Dean Rosalee Yeaworth, died Wednesday. A graveside service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday at Westlawn Hillcrest Memorial Park, and will be followed by an 11 a.m. church service at Dundee Presbyterian Church.

‘Ask the candidate’ forum to feature Dr. Crouse

A finalist for a top administrative post at UNMC will take part in an “ask the candidate” forum at 7:30 a.m. CDT Friday, May 16, in the University Hospital Amphitheater, Room 4208. Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend.

David Crouse, Ph.D, is the interim vice chancellor for academic affairs/interim dean for graduate studies at UNMC. He also is a professor in the department of genetics, cell biology and anatomy. Dr. Crouse will answer questions during the forum. He is one of three finalists for the position of UNMC vice chancellor for academic affairs/dean for graduate studies.

UNMC faculty and staff are invited to participate in the Fourth Annual SHARING Clinic Golf Tournament on Monday, May 19. The four-person scramble, affectionately called “Docs on the Green,” will begin at 3 p.m. at the Field Club of Omaha, 3615 Woolworth St.

Second-annual auction will benefit research, other charities

Rhona and Daniel Yetts don’t want other parents to experience what they went through. The parents of a daughter who passed away at age 31/2, the couple are the organizers for a sports-memorabilia auction that will raise money for leukemia research at UNMC and other charitable causes.
