Farnam Street stretch to close April 24

Beginning April 24, Farnam Street from 48th Street to Saddle Creek Road will close to traffic until late November.

The closure will allow the City of Omaha Public Works Department to improve existing traffic flow and safety, as well as accommodate traffic flow within the new Saddle Creek development and expansion of UNMC’s campus west of Saddle Creek Road.

The improvements include grading, burial of an Omaha Public Power District high-voltage transmission line and installation of a new signal at 46th and Farnam Streets, as 46th Street will be extended south through the Saddle Creek Campus.

Signs will be placed along the street the week of April 10 to inform motorists of the pending closure. Motorists will need to use alternate routes while work is happening in the area.

Although entry to 46th Street will be closed at Douglas Street, general traffic flow along Douglas Street will permit access to Rathskeller, UNeMed and Lots 56 and 57.

Updates on public improvements to the Saddle Creek Campus project are available on the project website.
