UNMC and Nebraska Medicine’s Project SEARCH program was initiated in 2015 to create unpaid internship opportunities to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities gain knowledge and skills that could lead to paid employment.
This nine-month program targets job seekers 20 years of age and older who benefit from total immersion in a business setting. Potential interns are either in their last year of transition or already receiving adult vocational services.
In this installment of Under the Microscope, UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, discusses the program with Pat Dunlap, program coordinator for Project SEARCH.
How nice and noble! This program makes me proud to be part of UNMC.
