On March 17, 2023, the UNMC Department of Anesthesiology welcomed 14 new residents from across the nation. These newly matched residents bring a diverse set of skills and experiences, and we are proud to welcome these phenomenal future colleagues to the department.
The UNMC 2023 Match Day celebration was held at the Scott Conference Center at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where two out of 114 senior medical students at UNMC opened their envelopes and found they had matched to the UNMC Department of Anesthesiology.
Accompanied by her husband and newborn son, medical student Brittany Clifton was excited to announce her match.
“Being a UNMC student, I’ve been able to really get a sense of the community, especially within the anesthesiology department,” Clifton said. “Everyone is so encouraging and supportive, it feels like a second family already, so I am beyond thrilled.”
Paul Doran and his family, joining the department in 2024, are excited to stay at UNMC and continue to call Omaha home.
“I’m so impressed with the people in the department and the opportunities it offers,” Doran said. “I think I can speak for my whole family that we couldn’t be happier on this Match Day.”
Clifton and Doran agreed that the training opportunities and experiences available at UNMC, in addition to the friendly and supportive department faculty, made it a perfect match.
Across the nation, 12 other medical students learned they would continue their education at the UNMC Department of Anesthesiology.
Resident program director Andrea Dutoit, MD, said she is looking forward to working with this amazing group of accomplished medical students as they train to become anesthesiologists.
“I am very thankful that they are choosing to pursue their training with us at UNMC,” said Dr. Dutoit. “I am excited for the energy, passion, knowledge and experiences they are going to bring to our UNMC anesthesiology family.”
