In January, as New Year’s fitness resolutions kick into gear, Engage Wellness is opening its facility to UNMC and Nebraska Medicine employees from Jan. 3 through 30 at no charge.
Engage Wellness, located on the UNMC campus inside the Home Instead Center for Successful Aging at 730 S. 38th Ave., is not a typical gym. It is a medical fitness facility focused on whole-person wellness.
Engage Wellness offers group movement classes and Keiser strength training equipment. The resistance in this equipment is controlled by air, allowing for consistent resistance throughout the whole range of motion and eliminating the pull of gravity and potential harm to joints.
From Jan. 3 through 30, all Nebraska Medicine and UNMC employees can work out for free Monday through Thursday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and during business hours on Fridays. Employees will need to fill out this waiver and show their badge.
Free parking is available during these hours on the south side of Lot 16L. Parking authorization is required prior to use; email Parking Services or call 402-559-8580 #1.
The general public is welcome, as well. Engage Wellness also offers “Free Fridays” for all adults (age 19 and over) on the first Friday of each month. This includes use of the facility’s state-of-the-art equipment and group exercise classes.
More information and class schedule can be found at the Engage Wellness website, by calling 402-552-7210 or emailing Engage Wellness. Providers can refer patients to Engage Wellness by filling out this form.
