MS in emergency preparedness transitions into an MPH

The University of Nebraska Board of Regents Friday approved transitioning UNMC’s Master of Science in Emergency Preparedness into the Master of Public Health, administered by the UNMC College of Public Health.

UNMC offers both the MPH and Doctor of Public Health degrees with an available emphasis in emergency preparedness. The popularity of these degrees has resulted in a drop-off in both interest and applications for the research-focused MS program in emergency preparedness, which was created in 2012.

According to UNMC leaders, the few students currently in the MS program will graduate soon or already have transitioned to the MPH program. At that point, the research-focused MS program in emergency preparedness will be discontinued.
