Omaha Performing Arts is offering a discount code to UNMC students and employees on tickets for select shows.
Select shows include:
- Terrence Blanchard “Absence,” Sept. 30 at the Holland Performing Arts Center. Two-time Oscar nominee, six-time Grammy-winner and 2018 USA Fellow trumpeter/composer Terence Blanchard performs “Absence,” an homage to Wayne Shorter, with the E-Collective and Turtle Island Quartet.
- Sammy Figueroa and his Latin Jazz Ensemble, Oct. 14 at the Holland Music Club. As one of the world’s leading percussionists, Sammy Figueroa has played on countless records and is well-known for his versatility in a multitude of musical styles. Besides playing with some of the world’s greatest pop stars, such as David Bowie, Chaka Khan and Mariah Carey, Figueroa also has played with a multitude of distinguished jazz artists, including Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Quincy Jones and George Benson.
- “Ain’t too Proud – The Life and Times of the Temptations,” Oct. 18-23 at the Orpheum Theater. Code valid for all performances except Saturday. See the electrifying, new smash-hit Broadway musical that follows The Temptations’ extraordinary journey from the streets of Detroit to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. With their signature dance moves and silky-smooth harmonies, they rose to the top of the charts with 42 Top Ten Hits, including 14 reaching No. 1. Nominated for 12 Tony Awards and the winner of the 2019 Tony Award for Best Choreography, “Ain’t too Proud” tells the thrilling story of brotherhood, family, loyalty and betrayal, as the group’s personal and political conflicts threatened to tear them apart during a decade of civil unrest in America.
- The War and Treaty, Oct. 30 at the Holland Performing Arts Center. Husband-wife duo Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter’s story is as powerful as their blues fusion of Southern soul, gospel, country and rock-and-roll. The War And Treaty have amassed a following as eclectic as their sound itself with “voices that will stop you in your tracks,” according to Garden and Gun.
