Masonic cornerstone ceremony is Sept. 24 at MMI

The Masonic Grand Lodge of Nebraska will hold a ceremony Saturday, Sept. 24, to dedicate a cornerstone at the Munroe-Meyer Institute’s new home at 6902 Pine St.

Following renovations to the former First Data office building, MMI first started seeing patients at its new home in April 2021. The 220,000-square-foot facility building is located near the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Scott Campus.

The freemasons have a time-honored tradition of laying a cornerstone at public buildings. The Grand Lodge of Nebraska said it has offered cornerstone ceremonies since 1869 and performed the ceremony for more than 530 buildings across Nebraska.

Alex Straatmann, most worshipful grand master of the Grand Lodge of Nebraska, will conduct the ceremony with officers of the lodge.

The event is scheduled to start at noon with a reception and tours following.
