Starting tomorrow, you’ll see a new design when you open your UNMC Today email.
The new look is part of a larger project by the UNMC Department of Strategic Communications to migrate the "news tool" — the system where UNMC Today stories are created and published — to a more modern, easy-to-use platform.
"The old news tool was built more than 15 years ago in ColdFusion, which UNMC is transitioning away from due to potential security risks," said Ryan Shaw, senior manager for web design and development in the department of strategic communications.
The new system is built in WordPress, a more intuitive content management system that will allow new features to easily be added with plug-ins, Shaw said.
The news tool also is used for UNMC press releases and for some stories featured in e-newsletters. Campus users who have access to the old news tool will receive training in how to use the new system.
