On his tour of the UNMC Omaha campus, Gary Bush saw many impressive things, but what stood out was the academic mission that impacts both undergraduate and graduate students.
“The offerings for students, both undergrad and graduate, are competitive with other peer institutions. If I was a student looking to enter the medical field, UNMC should be at or near the top of my list,” Bush said.
As the senior budget management analyst with the State of Nebraska Department of Administrative Services – State Budget Division, Bush oversees the entire educational spectrum, including the Department of Education, University of Nebraska, Nebraska State College System and Nebraska’s Community Colleges. Other agencies assigned include the Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education, Nebraska State Historical Society, Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Library Commission.
During his day-long visit to UNMC, Bush toured the Wigton Heritage Center, Wittson Hall, Williams Science Hall, Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center and the Davis Global Center.
He said he enjoyed learning about the history of the campus and the contributions that UNMC has made, is making and will make in the future.
“I appreciate the time and energy everyone gave so I could have a better understanding of the mission of UNMC and how leadership is dedicated to making that mission a success,” Bush said.
