UNMC’s CultureFest 2022 will celebrate Nebraska

UNMC will celebrate its annual CultureFest event on Aug. 26 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza.

CultureFest is UNMC’s annual celebration of culture, inclusion and diversity. This year, it will celebrate the Culture of Nebraska with interactive booths, food and entertainment.

Food and beverage:

  • Free bite-sized foods from Runza and Valentino's, both native to Nebraska
  • Free bottled water
  • Kool-Aid (first created in Nebraska) stand with free samples
  • Two food trucks with $10 meal deals
  • People are welcome to bring their own lunch and join the event.

Entertainment and presentations: 

  • Singer Dani Cleveland
  • DJ Willie Johnson
  • June Bear Noonan, community relations coordinator for the Nebraska Urban Indian Health Coalition
  • Florence Mill, the oldest business in Nebraska
  • Free canvas craft/painting
  • Free booklet with historical, cultural and facts about Nebraska
  • Booths from cultural communities with ties to Nebraska

Organizers are looking for volunteers to help with this year's event. Sign up online by Friday, Aug. 12. Each volunteer will get a free T-shirt to wear at the event.
