Nursing Schools Almanac ranks UNMC high among U.S. nursing schools

The College of Nursing recently was ranked by Nursing Schools Almanac in its 2022 rankings as one of the best U.S. nursing schools.

Nursing Schools Almanac collected data on 3,000 institutions, and only 3% made its list of the 100 best nursing schools in the nation. It assessed each institution on three critical dimensions.

The UNMC College of Nursing ranked:

  • No. 1 in Nebraska
  • No. 2 in the plains region
  • No. 24 among public nursing schools
  • No. 41 overall

Below are the critical dimensions used to rank schools.

  • Academic prestige and perceived value (50% of overall score) — "Prestige" and "value" are typically difficult concepts to quantify. Quantitative measures included: Graduates’ ability to repay their student debt in a timely manner; professional designations (e.g., National League for Nursing Center of Excellence); grant funding for nursing research from the National Institutes of Health and number of years in operation, particularly at the graduate nursing education level.
  • Breadth and depth of nursing programs offered (20% of overall score) — considered were the full range of undergraduate and graduate nursing programs offered by each school, including degrees, diplomas, and certificates as well as enrollment.
  • Student success, particularly on the NCLEX licensure examination (30% of overall score), also was used.

Is this food truck schedule still planned? https://www.unmc.edu/newsroom/2022/06/02/juneteenth-events-set-at-med-center/ I get several emails from researchers daily asking to confirm the food truck schedule as it is usually not accurate. Thanks!

  2. UNMC Today editor says:

The food trucks for Juneteenth are part of a separate observance. The schedule that posts weekly here is the one UNMC receives from vendors. We work with vendors to schedule their slots on campus and the schedules that run each Friday are the most up-to-date ones we have going into each week.
