The 2022 Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Graduation will be held on Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11. The campus is invited to attend the two-day event via Zoom.
Department chair Kevin Garvin, MD, hosts the event, which marks the graduation of residents Zachary Bailey, MD, David Brown, MD, Jace Heiden, MD, Gordon Roedel, MD, and Matt Tingle, MD.
The event’s annual Harold & Marian Andersen Lecture will be given by University of Nebraska-Lincoln volleyball coach John Cook. Cook has led the Huskers to four national championships, seven finals appearances, 10 semifinal appearances, 12 conference titles and 19 top-10 final rankings since 2000.
The event’s visiting professor lecturer will be John Anderson, MD. Dr. Anderson is a clinical professor in the Michigan State University Department of Surgery in the College of Human Medicine; clinical assistant professor at Grand Valley State University; assistant program director of the Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners’ orthopaedic residency program; and co-director of the Grand Rapids orthopaedic foot and ankle fellowship program. As a national and international expert in his field, he frequently presents at conferences and events, and he publishes extensively to expand his own knowledge base and that of his peers. He is actively involved in research as well as medical student, resident and orthopaedic foot and ankle fellowship education.
