Organizations all over the world are trying to help the people of Ukraine in many ways as war continues in that country.
UNMC Department of Neurological Sciences epilepsy fellow Spriha Pavuluri, MD, has created several pieces of art on canvas with mixed media, and on acidic paper with watercolors. Some of these paintings reflect Ukraine's culture and their sentiments. Paintings come in a variety of sizes, the biggest being 16×20 inches.
"My mentors are from Ukraine, and I was witnessing the pain and heartache they carried every day with them while they did their jobs," Pavuluri said. "I see their commitment to their profession, but I also see their helplessness with what's going on back in Ukraine.
"Painting was an outlet for me to capture some of these sentiments. This is my way of helping a community that needs all the help they can get. This is my way of teaching my kids that you can always give back to those in need in more ways than one."
The paintings are viewable between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. in Clarkson Doctors Building South second floor.
Take Clarkson Tower Concourse level north through Kiewit Tower to Clarkson Doctors Building South. Once there, take the elevators to the second floor. EEG/MEG Room 222 is straight ahead. The receptionist will direct visitors into the hall where the paintings are displayed.
