Celebrating the med center’s ‘Trusted’ colleagues

Jim Linder, MD

This week, Nebraska Medicine recognizes what the American Hospital Association calls “Hospital Week” — but Nebraska Medicine has internally renamed it “Colleague Week.”

“The reason for this is obvious — nothing happens in our hospital and clinic buildings without you, professional colleagues working together in the care of patients and each other,” said Jim Linder, MD, CEO of Nebraska Medicine.

To recognize the extraordinary work of both Nebraska Medicine and UNMC collegues, Nebraska Medicine is commemorating “Colleague Week 2022” with a new T-shirt design bearing the UNMC and Nebraska Medicine logo and one of the most powerful words imaginable: Trusted. Patients trust the med center with their lives, the community trusts the information its experts provide, students trust the med center to provide excellent education, the world trusts its research and colleagues trust each other as a team in complex clinical situations. This was recognized in 2021 when the American Hospital Association named Nebraska Medicine as one of the Top Five most trusted hospital brands in the country.

Having this level of trust does not happen by accident; it arises from a common mission, shared culture, ITEACH Values, and a commitment to delivering Serious Medicine and Extraordinary Care. It is embedded in the med center DNA.

Nebraska Medicine is gifting one “Trusted” T-shirt to each Nebraska Medicine, UNMC, Clarkson College, Sodexo and Cardinal Health colleague. Colleagues can wear this T-shirt, having earned the title of “Trusted.” UNMC faculty and staff should check with their supervisors to determine appropriate workdays/times to wear the “Trusted” T-shirt.

Colleagues must order their T-shirt by Monday, May 23. Before placing an order, verify your campus four-digit ZIP code. The unisex T-shirt will be delivered to your work location by Friday, July 1 (remote workers included). Also, please review this size chart to ensure you order your accurate T-shirt size.

How do we go about ordering for our whole department?

  2. UNMC Today editor says:

Departments cannot order. Each individual must order their own shirt.

I keep getting the message that my email isn't correct and it's the UNMC email.
