iLEAD application deadline approaching

The application deadline for UNMC Office of Faculty Development’s popular iLEAD program is Friday, April 15.

iLEAD (Interprofessional Leadership for Excellence and Academic Development) is a one-year applied-learning experience designed for faculty who want to accelerate their leadership skills.

Want to unlock your own leadership potential? Interested participants must complete an application for consideration; letters of endorsement are strongly encouraged. iLEAD is a live, experiential learning opportunity that will be held in person on the Omaha campus. To be considered for admission, applicants must be able to attend ALL of the required meeting dates, which include two immersive, overnight retreats at Lied Lodge in Nebraska City.

Participants will be notified of acceptance into the program in May. More information about iLEAD, including program details and objectives, can be found on the iLEAD website.

iLEAD graduates have a proven record of leadership success throughout the organization. The recent Impact in Education Awards, the highest education-related awards conferred by UNMC, serve as an example. Three of the seven 2022 award winners are iLEAD class of 2020 graduates.

That includes Jasmine Marcelin, MD, recipient of the Emerging Educator Award. Dr. Marcelin highly recommends the iLEAD program: "I learned new skills, refined existing ones and forged new interprofessional relationships, while gaining a new perspective on what it means for me to be an effective leader."

Fellow iLEAD graduate and recipient of the Innovative Practices in Education Award, Abbey Fingeret, MD, agrees. "The program content, interprofessional collaboration and networking were instrumental in my development and implementation of innovative curricula."

Dr. Fingeret recommends iLEAD not only for what it provides participants during the program but also the benefits into the future. "The connections built through the program are enduring," she said. "My iLEAD colleagues and leaders continue to provide support, feedback, sponsorship and mentorship years later."
