Students honored at annual convention

The UNMC College of Nursing congratulates the students recognized during the Nebraska State Student Nurses Association Annual Convention on Feb. 5. The virtual event marked the 73rd annual convention, which focused on the many pathways the field of nursing can lead one in health care.

The following UNMC College of Nursing students were recognized:


  • Madison Wynne – Elected the state Breakthrough to Nursing Chair, which leads the committee working to increase the number and diversity of students choosing nursing as a career.
  • James Vermillion – Named the Nebraska State Student Nurse of the Year.
  • Brittany Dietrich – Received the Individual Community Health Award for collaborating with community groups to create period supply bags for schools in Alliance, Gering and Scottsbluff.
  • College of Nursing West-Nebraska Division students – The Most Unique Community Health Award for their volunteer work with Buckboard Therapeutic Riding Academy.
