Poster presentation accepted for NNE Summit

Rachel Zeiger and Denise Waterfield

Rachel Zeiger and Denise Waterfield's project, "Acting on Baccalaureate Nursing Student Assessment Data to Maximize Student Success,” was accepted for poster presentations at the 2022 National Nurse Educator Summit in Seattle, April 10-13.

The Summit will focus on the critical issues facing nursing education today, with topics to help educators prepare for nursing’s exciting future.

For their presentation, assessment data was used (ATI Concept-Based Assessments) to make note of students' lowest performing area, which has consistently been Basic Care and Comfort over the past five years. For the current group of students, active learning activities were implemented each week to reinforce the standards of Basic Care and Comfort, which are listed in the NCLEX-RN test plan.

At the end of semester three, with one semester of intervention complete, the students' scores in Basic Care and Comfort radically improved from their lowest scoring to highest scoring category.

Ziegler and Waterfield are registered nurses and faculty members in the College of Nursing – Kearney Division.
