Four members of the Munroe-Meyer Institute Department of Genetic Medicine were listed in Omaha Magazine’s annual “Premier Doctors” list.
In fact, the four MMI MDs – Omar Rahman, MD, Ann Haskins Olney, MD, Lois Starr, MD, PhD, and Danita Velasco, MD – made up the entire section of the list devoted to “Pediatric Clinical Genetics.”
“The methodology used to select physicians for this recognition is fundamentally based on peer recommendations,” Dr. Rahman said. “Many in our department have longstanding relationships with the Nebraska medical community, and this recognition shows that our physicians are seen as trusted experts by that community.”
Another reason MMI dominated the list?
“We provide the only board-certified clinical geneticists for the state of Nebraska,” Dr. Rahman said.
The list can be found here. The MMI physicians can be found on Page 50.
MMI’s Cynthia Ellis, MD, and Howard Needelman, MD, are listed as well, as among the best physicians in Omaha for pediatric developmental behavioral problems, but the magazine lists their affiliation as with Children’s Hospital & Medical Center, one of UNMC’s clinical partners.
The “Premier Doctors” list is created for Omaha Magazine by DataJoe Research through a facilitated online peer-voting process.
