UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, will be honored by the Greater Omaha Chamber as its Volunteer of the Year during the chamber’s 2022 annual meeting today.
The award recognizes Dr. Gold’s counsel to Omaha business leaders throughout the pandemic and his support to local businesses navigating the crisis.
David Brown, president and CEO of the Greater Omaha Chamber, said Dr. Gold’s leadership and commitment to public safety have been nothing short of extraordinary during an unprecedented pandemic.
“In addition to his incredible work at UNMC, he has made it a point to address the Greater Omaha Chamber board of directors on the monthly meetings, keeping Omaha’s business leaders up to date on the crucial pandemic data and information,” Brown said. “Dr. Gold has also generously made his team available to help individual companies make informed decisions regarding keeping their employees and customers safe and productive during the pandemic.
“The chamber is honored to select him for this prestigious award.”
Dr. Gold said UNMC’s support during the pandemic is part of the core mission of an academic medical center.
“It is UNMC’s core mission to help safeguard the health and well-being of the people of Nebraska, the country and the world,” Dr. Gold said. “It was and continues to be a privilege to provide advice and help to the Omaha and greater Nebraska community as we struggle through the pandemic together.”
