Black History month trivia

To celebrate Black History Month, UNMC's black history committee offers these facts about some notable African-Americans and a quiz about African-American history.

Did you know?

  • Lonnie Johnson, founder and president of Johnson Research and Development Co., invented the widly-popular Super Soaker water gun in 1982.
  • In 1921, Bessie Coleman became the first African-American woman to hold a pilot’s license.
  • The historic "March on Washington" occurred in 1963.

In the spirit of exploring Black history, send your answers to the following quiz to UNMC's events email no later than 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10. You will be entered in a drawing for prizes donated by the Munroe-Meyer Institute, UNMC Human Resources, the UNMC Bookstore and the Office of Inclusion.

Five people will be chosen at random from among those who answer all questions correctly. A grand prize will be awarded for the first person to respond with all the correct answers.
