UNMC students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in UNMC's De-Stress Week celebration, which runs all next week. De-Stress Week will include snacks, yoga and more.
The following is a list of De-Stress Week events on the Omaha campus:
Monday, Dec. 6:
- Donut Stress, 7:30 a.m., Sorrell Center Alumni Commons, second floor — Stop by and grab a pre-packaged donut (while supplies last).
- De-stressing with stretching, 12 p.m., Center for Healthy Living — Join fitness specialist Peter Pellerito for an hour-long deep-stretching and strengthening session. Attendees will receive a free resistance band to take home. Pre-registration required. Limited spots available. Those interested in participating should sign up here.
Tuesday, Dec. 7:
- Breakfast on the go, 7:30 a.m., DRC II, Commons Area — Start the morning off with a free muffin while supplies last (item individually packaged).
- Student snack break, 10 a.m., McGoogan Health Sciences Library, sixth floor by the AskUs desk — The McGoogan Library staff will provide healthy snacks for students, so take a quick study break and grab a snack (while supplies last). In the library, please enjoy your snack in the study room only.
- Take and Make: Holiday Ornament, 2 p.m., Sorrell Center Alumni Commons, second floor — Stop by and grab a holiday ornament and paint (while supplies last) to make your own painted holiday ornament at home.
Wednesday, Dec. 8:
- Restorative yoga, 12 p.m., Zoom — Join retired registered nurse Deb Welk as she guides participants through a relaxing yoga session incorporating deep stretching and breathing. Registration required to receive the Zoom link. Register here.
- Magic show, 2 p.m., UNMC Instagram and Facebook — Tune in to see a magic show presented by Steven Wengel, MD.
Thursday, Dec. 9:
- Pediatric donation drive, 11 a.m., Wigton Heritage Center’s Olson Atrium — Give back this holiday season by bringing a donation for the Nebraska Medicine pediatric patient unit, and receive a free de-stress kit in return (while supplies last). - Chancellor’s Holiday Tea — Stop by and grab some holiday cookies (while supplies last) courtesy of UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD.
Friday, Dec. 10:
- Holiday Skate Day, 11:30 a.m., UNMC Ice Rink — Strap on your skates, and come celebrate the holidays at the UNMC Ice Rink. There will be hot chocolate and UNMC gloves (while supplies last).
- Student Winter Holiday Celebration, 4 p.m., UNMC Ice Rink — Students are encouraged to stop by the ice rink for winter snacks and activities (while supplies last). This event is part of the Student Senate Green Space series.
