Councilman Begley visits UNMC

From left, iEXCEL's Michael Hollins and Pamela Boyers, PhD, associate vice chancellor for clinical simulation/iEXCEL, welcome Omaha City Councilman Danny Begley.

Omaha City Councilman Danny Begley visited UNMC earlier this month, meeting with UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, Vice Chancellor for External Affairs Bob Bartee and other leaders.

He also toured iEXCEL at the Davis Global Center, which he said he was impressed with.

"You can read about these things, but actually seeing it takes everything to another level," he said.

"The training modules, the 3D models, the connectivity to other campuses in Nebraska and across the country – that’s tremendous.

"As a father of kids in the health industry, as well as the uncle of nieces and nephews, I’m excited for Omaha and the state — and the Midwest and the country, for that matter," he said. "You hear the great things, that UNMC is getting on par with the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins — we’re there."

Begley, who represents District 3 and the med center area, said he’s lived his life within two miles of the UNMC Omaha campus.

"To see the transformation, the investment from the public and private sector, to make this a world-class academic medical center, I couldn’t be prouder to be part of that by doing my job on the city council to promote and provide support to the medical center, and to communicate with the people of my district just how impressive this is."

Thank you so much for your interest in iEXCEL and the Davis Global Center. For the time being, we have limited tours to small, internal groups or public officials. Be sure to keep updated with the iEXCEL website and social media for any changes.
