Ewald to assume role in NU Athletics

Doug Ewald

Doug Ewald, who has served as vice chancellor for business, finance and business development at UNMC and UNO since 2018, will assume the role executive associate athletic director/chief financial officer for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s athletic department, beginning Nov. 1.

"While I am disappointed to see Doug leave, I’m grateful to him for all of his work on behalf of our campus and the entire university," Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, said. "He was instrumental both strategically and operationally, planned for campus growth and looked for new and innovative ways to increase our health and economic benefit to the citizens of Nebraska. I wish him well in this opportunity with NU Athletics."

"Business development is at an all-time high and the development of the campus master plan positions UNMC for 10-15 years of exponential economic development that will benefits the taxpayers of Nebraska for years to come," Ewald said. "It has been an honor and a pleasure to give back to the university that gave me so much during my years as a UNO student and to also work at UNMC as my sons earned degrees here. I want to thank the hundreds of staff members I have had the privilege of working alongside for their support for both of these universities’ mission. Every challenge we overcame and every opportunity we capitalized on together has positioned both of these universities to be a major factor here in our state and beyond."

A national search for the position will commence in the near future, Dr. Gold said.

In his new position, Ewald will oversee the athletic department’s business operations and serve as a key member of the senior administrative staff of Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Trev Alberts.
