In recognition of National Farm Safety and Health Week Sept. 19-25, Central States Center for Agricultural Safety (CS-CASH) and Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Public Health is sponsoring free webinars open to the public.
CS-CASH is co-sponsoring a series of 10 webinars with topics ranging from innovations in tractor and ag vehicle safety to a discussion of stress and mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact on farmers. More information and links to the webinars can be found on the AgriSafe Network website at https://www.agrisafe.org/event/national-farm-safety-and-health-week/.
In addition, on Tuesday Sept. 21, in collaboration with the Grain Handling Safety Coalition, CS-CASH outreach specialist Ellen Duysen will present “Personal Safety During Harvest.” She will discuss how to protect yourself when hazards cannot be eliminated and engineering controls won’t work. This interactive presentation will demonstrate and discuss some of these situations, including recent innovations in PPE, from head to toe, and describe how each innovation breaks down a barrier for the use and usability of PPE.
On Thursday, Sept. 23, CS-CASH researcher Aaron Yoder, PhD, will present a webinar on “Agricultural Confined Spaces.” He will discuss what to look for and safety practices at the worksite.
