Nebraska State Sen. Terrell McKinney recently toured the medical center. Sen. McKinney, who represents District 11 in Omaha, met with UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, and other UNMC leadership.
Sen. McKinney also met to discuss UNMC’s Innovation Hub project, which will spur economic development while housing UNeMed, UNeTech and UNeHealth.
He toured the Dr. Edwin G. & Dorothy Balbach Davis Global Center for insight on UNMC’s iEXCEL initiative. He said he appreciated UNMC’s use of simulation and technology to improve education and health care.
"I thought it was great," he said, "really innovative and forward-thinking."
Sen. McKinney said he stands behind the medical center employees, both throughout the pandemic and in their work in research, health care and education.
"I want them to know I always will support them and the work they are trying to do," Sen. McKinney said.
