The UNMC Department of Information Technology will offer a pilot program for IT consultations for faculty, staff and students this fall.
These consultations will provide an opportunity to get an expert perspective on an information technology matter, said Michael Ash, MD, vice chancellor for information and technology.
The focus of these will be to provide direction on how to approach the usage of technology within the academic enterprise. For example:
- Direction on how to get an IT perspective on a drafted grant
- Complex problem where you are unclear how to start or continue
- Guidance on how to incorporate technology within a faculty members curriculum
- Understanding what data sets are available for research and other reporting needs
- The process to consider introducing new technology into the academic enterprise
"These two sessions — one set for Sept. 22 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and one for Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. — are a trial to see if this format is a useful method of addressing IT concerns and to gauge the level of interest and assess if these consultations will become part of normal IT operations," said Melissa Diers, director of academic technologies.
To request a consultation please complete this form.
Requestors will be invited to a 15-minute session within a selected 90-minute consultation session.
These are not for reporting an active problem (e.g., an error message when attempting to sign on to Canvas) or for requesting a service (e.g., creating new accounts, moving workstations, resetting a user password).
