UNMC has announced that programs such as Step-Up Omaha! may begin working one-on-one with faculty and graduate student mentors, with ongoing required face covering, hand hygiene, and social distancing.
As a result, the seven-week summer program will return to the UNMC campus this year, running from June 7-Aug. 6. New interns will start at their worksites on June 21 following two weeks of employment training.
The program trains and places prepared Omaha youth and young adults age 14 to 21 in mutually beneficial paid summer jobs and work experience opportunities.
The Step-Up Omaha! team is monitoring the health recommendations from the Douglas County health director and working with health professionals to assure all COVID-19 safety and social distancing protocols are followed.
“Step-Up Omaha! has been an exciting and successful program here on the UNMC campus,” said Aileen Warren, associate vice chancellor for human resources. “We are excited to be able to hold the program again this year, and we are looking forward to welcoming these motivated young people to UNMC.”

Proud to hear UNMC is part of this great program.
