“Keep Calm and Cook On,” a virtual cooking demonstration, will be held via Zoom for the UNMC and University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) community on Friday, Dec. 11, from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
“What we eat matters, and this project is intended to provide a healthy cooking lesson that is practical for busy people and pleasing to the palate,” said Steven Wengel, MD, assistant vice chancellor for wellness at UNMC and UNO.
The 90-minute presentation also will include nutritional information and a live question-and-answer session. On the menu will be smoked butternut squash, toasted sunflower seeds, arugula with apple cider vinaigrette and dried cherries.
Dr. Wengel said he hopes attendees find cooking to be a way to reduce stress while providing sustenance for those close to them.
To obtain the Zoom link, register in the Bridge platform and search for “Keep Calm and Cook On” in the Learning Library. This event is a joint effort of human resources, the wellness program, medical nutrition and Metropolitan Community College’s Institute for the Culinary Arts’ Open Kitchen.
