UNMC nearing goal for specialty plates

UNMC is only 100 commitments away from being able to join its sister campuses — as well as the Henry Doorly Zoo, the Union Pacific Railroad Museum and others — in providing specialty license plates to its students, faculty, staff, alumnus and supporters.

Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, has called the effort a terrific opportunity to show pride in UNMC.

The UNMC license plate design has been approved by the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), but 250 applications are necessary for the state to begin manufacturing the plate. UNMC already has commitments from approximately 150 people.

Each applicant must commit to paying the $70 fee annually for the specialty plates. (Payment is not initially required.) If you are interested in purchasing the specialty plate, find instructions and more information here.

After UNMC has received 250 commitments, those who have committed will be emailed instructions on filling out the appropriate DMV forms. At that time, they also will mail a check to UNMC or submit payment electronically (including a small processing fee). UNMC will then pay the state a lump sum to begin processing the plates.
