UNMC Parking Services has outlined a plan to accommodate UNMC students and employees in light of the work at home/virtual class initiatives. These additional parking options will supplement all of the current parking rules and regulations.
“We understand that we need to change the way we charge for parking because of the unusual circumstances brought on by COVID-19,” said Robert Jennings, director of procurement and materials management. “Our plan uses the Park Omaha App and allows students and employees to determine the best solution for them.”

Effective Aug. 3, the plan:
- Allows students, who do not have permits or wish to cancel their existing permit, to park in student lots (15S, 17, 33S, 36, 48S, 49, 62, 63 and 65S).
- Once in the lot, students should use the Park Omaha App and pay $3 for the day.
- Parking enforcement can see which cars have paid to use the lots; these vehicles would not receive a ticket.
- Note: Students who are on campus more than five times a month should consider buying the $16 parking sticker.
- Allows employees, who do not have a permit or wish to cancel their existing permit, to park in selected surface lots.
- Available lots would be along the edge of campus: Lots 7,17, 27, 49, 57, 58, 62 and 63.
- Once in the lot, employees should use the Park Omaha App and pay $3 for the day.
- Parking enforcement can see which cars have paid to use the lots; these vehicles would not receive a ticket.
- Note: Parking rates vary based on the location of the parking lot, but using $36 as the standard monthly parking fee, employees who are on campus more than 12 days would find it cheaper to buy a parking permit.
“This plan will provide flexibility and additional options for students and employees based on their circumstances,” Jennings said.
