IT offers remote solutions for staff, faculty, students

The IT Department has created informational sites for UNMC staff members, educators and students — Keep Working, Keep Teaching and Keep Learning — that detail all the steps that should be taken by members of the UNMC community who may need to work from home or another alternate location as a result of safety measures being taken during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Keep Caring

In addition to technology offerings for the med center community, IT has created Keep Caring, which features technology offerings for the community at large and Nebraska Medicine patients. Keep Caring includes:

  • Information made available on the web and within the Nebraska Medicine mobile app;
  • Self-screening tool to be made available on the web and within the Nebraska Medicine mobile app; and
  • eVisits (asynchronous and synchronous) made available on the web and with the Nebraska Medicine mobile app.

The sites feature:

  • IT service offerings for equipment and connectivity from alternate site/work from home;
  • IT service offerings for conducting meetings from alternate locations;
  • IT service offerings on how to use voice/fax services from alternate locations; and
  • IT service offerings to support teaching and assessments for UNMC classes.

“The Keep Working site is part of an effort by IT to help staff members who are trying to continue in the vital work of the university while complying with public health efforts,” said Marc Ferguson, IT operations executive director.

“The three sites, including Keep Teaching, for faculty, and Keep Learning, for students, are part of an ‘On the Go‘ IT package designed to provide whatever the members of the university community need as we move to digital avenues of working, teaching and learning.”
