Jeanne Ferbrache, director of institutional research in charge of reporting campus information to various federal, state and outside agencies, will retire from UNMC in April after a 40-year career on campus.
Ferbrache joined UNMC in 1980 as a staffer in the registrar’s office.
“I did all the registrations for the students,” she said. “On paper.”
Although she has held different positions, she has been in academic affairs throughout her four-decade career.
“I enjoyed working with the students, and being in education keeps you sharp, especially with the students here,” she said. “This has been a great, positive environment. I enjoyed the people I worked with, and I enjoyed the students. Thinking back, I’ve had a lot of fun. ”
Dele Davies, M.D., senior vice chancellor for academic affairs, calls Ferbrache an extraordinary resource for the office of academic affairs and UNMC.
“She’s been responsible for doing all our external and internal surveys. Whenever anyone has a question about anything to do with the institution, she’s the one we turn to,” he said. “She has a strong, historical knowledge of processes on campus; she’s been involved in two separate accreditation cycles. She’s just been a steady hand.”
Ferbrache was a Gold U recipient in 2017.
“She’s been an incredible contributor to UNMC over the years,” Dr. Davies said. “Jeanne’s one of those people who works well both in a team and independently, who quietly does her job but always rises to the occasion when called upon. She’ll be greatly missed — she’s been a critical team member — but we wish her well in her retirement.”
Dr. Davies encouraged members of the UNMC community to participate in a “card shower” for Ferbrache. To participate, friends and colleagues can send cards to campus mail ZIP 7815.
