The following message is from Chancellor Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., and Jane Meza, Ph.D., associate vice chancellor for global engagement.
Colleagues,
As the spread of the novel coronavirus continues globally and within the United States, here are the steps we are taking regarding Study Abroad.
Study Abroad During Spring Semester 2020
We have suspended any spring break university-sponsored study abroad programs for students outside the continental U.S. and Hawaii for the remainder of the spring semester.
Students already overseas on education abroad programs may continue to remain on those programs as long as the CDC level for the country they are in remains below level 3. Students in countries that are identified by a CDC level 2 may be asked to return at the discretion of campus leadership.
We are closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19 and evaluating whether to extend this cancellation of student university-sponsored travel through the summer. We expect to make that determination by March 15 and will share it with our campus at that time.
International Visitors
The sponsoring departments must register all international visitors in order to assure that all compliance requirements including Canvas trainings, background check, export control check, immunizations and health insurance are fulfilled.
Please ensure that all international visitors have been registered using the following link: www.unmc.edu/ihme/international-visitors/. Some visitors will need to register with the Douglas County Health Department.
