University president tours UNMC

University of Nebraska President Ted Carter toured UNMC and the University of Nebraska at Omaha last week, spending the day with Jeffrey P. Gold, M.D., chancellor of both institutions.

“I’m here to spend the day with Chancellor Gold,” Carter said, adding that he was looking forward to learning more about the campus, including the newer buildings, and meeting “every level of faculty, staff and administration.”

Carter said he was “overwhelmed” by the people and facilities at UNMC.

The university president started the day at UNMC, meeting with campus leaders including deans, directors, faculty and student leaders. He toured the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit and the Dr. Edwin G. and Dorothy Balbach Davis Global Center as part of a tour of the entire campus.

At UNO, he met with campus leaders and toured the campus, as well, including a tour of the Biomechanics Research Building.

Carter added that he has truly been enjoying his experience as the president of the University of Nebraska, a role he assumed earlier this year.

“Every day has been a validation that I’m where I’m supposed to be,” he said.
