Research focus:
- Lung, head and neck cancer
The goal of my research is: To identify newer treatment approaches for patients who are not candidates for standard therapies. My laboratory is evaluating new pathways in head and neck and lung cancer. The goal is to identify novel prognostic and predictive biomarkers for these malignancies.
My research will make a difference because: There is a large unmet need for treatment options in these diseases. Any progress in our understanding of these cancers will lead to improvement in the quality of life and survival of these patients.
The best advice I’ve ever been given is:
Keep doing your work sincerely, and don’t let the results be the underlying motive.
Three things you may not know about me are:
- In grade school I was nicknamed Appu by my friends, after the mascot of the 1982 New Delhi Asian Games
- I learned to swim and play tennis after the age of 40.
- I married the girl who proposed to me.
