Hobbies the focus of next Olson Center event

Jerry Walker, Ph.D.

Jerry Walker, Ph.D., will speak on Jan. 21 on “Health, Happiness & Harmony: The Holistic Essentiality of Hobbies,” from noon-1 p.m. in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater as part of the Olson Center for Women’s Health Brown Bag Lunch speaker series.

Dr. Walker’s presentation will consider:

  • What activities constitute a hobby?
  • How do hobbies contribute to our physical, mental, emotional and social health?

He will discuss how to incorporate a variety of personally relevant hobbies into your regular routine or lifestyle.

Seating for Dr. Walker’s presentation is limited. Pre-register by calling the Olson Center at 402-559-6345 or RSVP here. Attendees are invited to bring their lunch, and simple refreshments will be provided. Nursing credit/CEU will not be available for this lecture, which is free for all attendees.

The presentation will serve as an informal introduction to a new Olson Center series, “Wellness Through Doing: A Series on Hobbies for Mental Health,” which will focus on hobbies.
